Community Helpers

Last Thursday we had the opportunity to watch the Minnesota Percussion Trio perform.  Students enjoyed having the chance to see all the different things the musicians were able to use as percussion instruments.

Last week we began learning all about communities.  Students learned that a community is a place where people work, play, and live.  We talked about several different types of communities including: urban, suburban, and rural.  We also learned all about our global address.  On Thursday students worked with small groups to create their own communities.

Yesterday students put the finishing touches on their community projects and then presented them to the rest of the class.  Each student shared one important thing about the community they had created.

Yesterday we also learned about community helpers.  In the activity below students had to draw and label at least three tools that each of the community helpers use.
