Counting by 10s Pyramids & Animal Kingdom Wrap-Up

This past week students learned how to count by 10s.  On Thursday they practiced by making counting by 10 pyramids.  They had a lot of fun with this activity!

We finished up our two week unit on the animal kingdom on Friday.  During our unit students learned about mammals, fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and insects.

Students worked together with their table groups to create informational posters about each of the animal groups.  When they finished they presented their posters to the class.
(I somehow missed getting a photo of one the tables -- sorry!)

On Friday students put the finishing touches on their animal kingdom books.  They were very proud of their work!

Cows & Cats

Last week we learned all about cows and dairy farms.

Students each had a chance to make their own cow hat!

We began by learning all about cows.  Students followed specific directions to draw a picture of a cow and then we worked together to label them.

The following day students wrote a fact that they had learned about cows and made a cow craft.

We ended the week by making dairy farm dioramas.  Each diorama had to include a cow with an udder, a calf, a silo, a barn, and a pasture.  Students put so much effort into their projects that we had to finish up on Monday morning!

This past week students worked extremely hard on writing fiction stories that had cats as the main character.  We learned about the writing process and wrote both rough drafts and final drafts.

The last two weeks we have been able to head to the computer lab to practice logging in and using the computers.
