Last Days of School!

We had a great last few days of school!

We had a chance to meet up with our 6th grade buddies one last time.  Each student made a card for his/her buddy and then we enjoyed freezies and time on the playground before saying good-bye for the summer.

On Thursday we had our celebration of learning.  Every student had a chance to walk the red carpet to receive his/her kindergarten diploma and then had a chance to hear at least three compliments/affirmations from their classmates.

What a fantastic year it was!!

Field Day

Last Tuesday was our kindergarten field day.  It was a bit chilly for the end of May, but we still had lots of fun!

Students started by doing several different relays and playing the game Treasure Hunt.

We ended our field day time by having a tug-of-war!

What We've Been Up to Lately...

As we finished up our unit on oviparous animals we read the book Whose Egg?  It was a lift-the-flap book that gave clues about different animals that hatch from eggs.  After reading the book students wrote their own oviparous animal riddles.

This past week we did an author's study on Mo Willems.  We began the week reading Elephant & Piggie books.

Students had a chance to create their own Elephant & Piggie comic strips.

On Tuesday we read Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late.  Students then created their own Don't Let the Pigeon ________ posters.

And here's a few miscellaneous photos from the last few weeks.

These girls were excited about their circle snacks during our shape unit.

Several students had a chance to take apart a computer during "maker space" time in library.
