Color Week

This past week we learned all about colors.  To start out the week we learned about color mixing and  students had a chance to read color books with a partner.

On Tuesday we practiced reading color words and then students went on a color hunt around the classroom.  They had to look for things that were red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, gray, brown, and black and then draw them on their charts.

After completing our color hunt students shared what they found with their table groups.

On Wednesday we read the book My Many Colored Days and talked about the connection between colors and feelings.  Students then had a chance to make their own paintings using watercolors that showed the color they associated with a specific feeling.

We ended the week by reading and singing about Pete the Cat and his colored shoes.    Students worked very hard on their Pete the Cat projects.

We'll have a chance to read a few more Pete books this upcoming week.  Check out the link below to hear and see some of Pete's stories online.
