Big Bubbles...Rock, Paper, Scissors, & Symmetry

Yesterday afternoon we had a lot of fun with our 6th grade buddies!  A 6th grade parent brought the supplies for us to make HUGE bubbles!

First students listened to directions before rotating through three different rotations...

Our class started by playing on the playground with our buddies.  Our next rotation was bubble making.

Our last rotation of the afternoon was hula hoops and hopscotch on the blacktop.

Our class received the book The Legend of Rock, Paper, & Scissors as a gift from the book fair.  Yesterday we had a chance to read it together.

Students then had a chance to play rock, paper, scissors with a partner.

This week in math we've been learning about symmetry.  This afternoon students created symmetrical pattern block designs.  They then used rulers to show the lines of symmetry.

Students had a chance to do a gallery walk to observe what their classmates had created.
