Problem/Solution & Rainforests

During literacy time this week we learned about the plot in a story.  We learned that in a fiction story there is almost always a problem that must be solved and a solution at the end.

On Tuesday we read the story Lazy, Lonely Roley first as a whole group and then with partners.  After we read the story we worked together to determine three different problems and solutions.

On Friday students had a chance to write their own problems and solutions.  Here are a few of the creative ideas they came up with!

In science this week we learned about the rainforest.  Students discovered that there are four layers: the forest floor, understory, canopy and emergent layers.  They worked hard all week long on creating their own rainforest.  Each student created a collage tree, labeled the rainforest label, and then colored & added rainforest animals.  The final products turned out great!
