Fish...Oviparous Animals...& our Field Trip

Last week during our fish unit students had a chance to observe both real guppies and goldfish.

After making their observations students shared their notes with a partner.

This week we have been learning all about oviparous animals.  We started off the week by reading Chickens Aren't the Only Ones.  The book taught us that an oviparous animal is an animal that lays eggs.  The book was filled with many different examples.

After reading the book we filled out the chart below together as a class.

Then we read a mini-book together and students had to draw and write about an oviparous animal and a non-oviparous animal.  Afterwards students shared their ideas with the other students at their tables.

Lastly, students worked together with a partner to fill out the web below.

On Tuesday we went on a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art.  Students toured the museum in small groups led by a tour guide.  Their tours focused on art work connected to seasons and weather.  It was a fun afternoon!
