The Past Few Days...

All week long we've been learning about fish.  Yesterday students had a chance to observe both goldfish and guppies.  After our observations we compared and contrasted the two different kinds of fish.

This morning we read the story Elmer and then created our own Elmer elephants...

Because today's weather was so beautiful we brought our lunches outside for a picnic lunch.  It was very fun!!

This afternoon we participated in the all school clean-up with our 6th grade buddies in Ms. McCormick's class.

So excited to take their plants home today!

On Friday we wrapped up our unit on worms.  Students started by filling out the earthworms have, need, can chart below with a partner...

Then we brainstormed a list of worm facts and students worked on this worm project...

We ended the day by practicing reading a recipe to make a special Worms in Dirt snack...

What We've Been Up To...

At the end of last week students worked with small groups to put together a hundreds chart.  They did a great job working together!

While learning about flowers this week we learned the phrase "April Showers Bring May Flowers."  Students watercolor painted raindrops and used tempra paint to paint flowers.

Later in the week we had a chance to take a part a seed to learn about the different parts.

Students had a chance to plant their own seeds.  We will grow them at school until they start to sprout in a couple of weeks.

All week long students have been working hard on some top secret surprises for their moms.  Below they're covering up their projects to keep them a surprise until Sunday!
