Color Hunt

This week we've been learning all about colors.  So far we have learned about mixing colors and practiced writing and spelling color words.  Yesterday afternoon students went on a color hunt.  They looked around the classroom for things that were nine different colors.

The Last Few Days...



Last Friday we had our annual Constitution Day assembly.  Students had a chance to listen to Roseville's new superintendent speak, watch the 5th graders act our the Preamble, and meet Blaze the Tiger!

At the end of last week we spent some time talking about friendship and then made a friendship quilt.  Each student drew a picture of something they like to do with their friends.

 

 

Today we had a visit from children's book author and illustrator Salina Yoon.  We had a lot of fun hearing about her books and watching her draw a picture of one of her characters, Penguin.

 

Students have been having a lot of fun making new friends and being creative during choice time!

 

We've Been Busy!!

We've been busy since the first week of school!!

Last week we read the book A My Name is Alice by Jane Bayer.  Students practiced using markers to color their names and glue to decorate the first letter of their names.

On Monday, students made the self-portrait projects.  They did a great job!!

Last week we also learned about bus safety and made these buses!

We spent some time talking about our hopes and dreams for the school year.  Each student made a cloud that showed what he/she hopes to learn in kindergarten!

Yesterday we read the book Lacey Walker, Nonstop Talker by Christianne C. Jones.  We learned about being good listeners.  Afterwards students made the awesome owls below!

 

First Week of School

We had a great first week of kindergarten!!  Students worked hard learning our classroom routines and using school tools.  Here's a class photo from the first day of school...

Last Day of School

It's hard to believe that today was our last day of kindergarten!!  Here's a few last day class photos...

This afternoon we saw our 6th grade buddies one more time before they graduate and head to the middle school next year!

We ended the day by reading "Miss Bindergarten Celebrates the Last Day of Kindergarten," sharing memories of the school year, and a group hug!  What a great year it has been!!
