As we finished up our unit on school helpers we had a chance to visit our school principal, Mrs. Bidne. Students enjoyed hearing about all of the tools she uses to do her job.
After our visit with Mrs. Bidne we took a detour and walked back to class outside so we could observe what the front of the school looked like for our school helper book cover.
This past week we learned all about fall. We began the week by observing one of the big trees out on the playground. We then talked about the parts of a tree and how trees can help us to know what season it is. We also learned another word for fall is autumn.
Students worked together with a partner to sort things we might see in fall (falling leaves, someone raking, pumpkins, etc.) from things we wouldn't see in fall (people swimming at the beach, a sled, buds on trees, etc.).
Later in the week we had a chance to make observations about real leaves.
Thursday was picture day at Brimhall! Here are students showing their best smiles as well as their best silly faces!
On Thursday afternoon, we had the opportunity to go to assembly to see the author, Julie Fogliano, and illustrator, Chrsitian Robinson, of When's My Birthday?
Julie Fogliano shared with us where she got the ideas for things in the book.
Christian Robinson drew pictures of students favorite animals.
In literacy this week we practiced counting the syllables in words. Students used clapper tools to help them count.
